Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What does it mean that you are “Out of Network”?

“Out of Network” (OON) means that I do not directly accept any health insurances. Additionally, “private pay” indicates services are billed to the person receiving services and payments for services are made directly to the therapist. All payments for services obtained at Willow Tree Therapy are due in full the day of service.

Do you take any insurance?

No. I accept zero insurances.

Is it possible my insurance will cover some of the cost for an “Out of Network” provider?

YES! It is possible. Most private insurance plans include Out of Network (OON) provider benefits, so it is likely you already have (and are paying for) OON benefits. The vast majority of individuals who see me have at least part of their service fees covered. State funded insurances (Medicaid, Medicare) unfortunately do not include OON benefits.

The best source of information regarding what OON benefits you have will come directly from your insurance provider. Please call your insurance company directly and ask for clarity on how to access your OON benefits and what coverage would look like. All plans have their differences, so it is best to check with them directly.

As an OON provider, those who see me get what's called a "superbill" at the end of each month, which is basically a poorly named document that lists all the things your insurance company would need to know in order for you to be reimbursed for the mental health services you are paying for up front.

1) Call your insurance company and ask about your OON benefits. Also ask how to submit (any specific forms they need?) for reimbursement.

Something along the lines of, “I am planning to see an out of network provider for mental health services and I want to know about my Out of Network benefits - what percentage is covered? This provider provides a superbill. In order to access my OON benefits, what insurance form do I have to fill out using the information from the superbill? - where can I locate this form?”

2) Attend sessions and pay the full fee for services on that day.

3) Receive "superbill" at the end of the month and submit it (along with any other paperwork your insurance company requires) to your insurance company for reimbursement.

4) Receive reimbursement directly from your insurance company.

Do you see people who have the kind of issues I’m dealing with?

I see individuals dealing primarily with disorders such as OCD, Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors, Tic Disorders (such as Tourette Syndrome), and Anxiety.

When are sessions available?

Weekday mornings and afternoons. Some evening availability.

All sessions are by appointment only; there are no walk-in appointments available. If you are in immediate need of help, please call 911 or go directly to the closest emergency room.
